The Romeo Family
The Romeo Family started in the supermarket industry in March 1987, beginning with a small convenience store, the family has progressively built a national business that now stands as Australiaโs largest family-owned Independent Supermarket business. With this retailing success, the Romeo family has received many State, National and International awards, with Industry experts commending the family for their exceptional performance in areas ranging from leadership, innovation to staff development and managerial grooming. The Romeo family is focused and passionate about their team and growing their business and are setting the benchmarks in the independent supermarket industry.
Pasquale Scalzi
Pasquale Scalzi has over 50 years experience in the fruit and vegetable wholesale industry. He is the Managing Director of Scalzi Produce, a fresh produce wholesaling business based at the South Australian Produce Market. Pat is the longest serving Board Member of SAPM since its inception in 1987, an unlisted public company that he had key involvement in establishing and moving the operation from City East End to its current Pooraka location. Awarded an Order of Australia Medal in 2000 for his service and extensive contribution to the local horticulture industry.
Douglas Schrippa
Douglas Schrippa, Adelaide born to Italian parents, Mary and Rocco, Doug started on a market garden, then East End and Pooraka markets before he expanded into mushrooms, culminating with a hi-tech family facility at Monarto, designed and built on by Douglas. He is instrumental in many industry bodies across Australia including CBC Parents and Friends Committee. Doug also played field hockey and was an International Hockey Umpire.
